The SOCOTEC team has served as consultants to many projects related to vibrations, fluid-solid interactions, wind engineering, fatigue, noise transmission and control to federal, state and city agencies, national laboratories, and industry.  

Vibration Analysis and Monitoring 

There are many sources of vibration in the industrial environment. Excessive vibrations can lead to the formation of cracks, wear of bearings, loosening of connections, structural and mechanical failures, malfunction of electronic equipment and added costs to maintenance. Understanding the sources and effects of the vibration allows effective mitigation techniques to be applied. Our experience, combined with failure analysis and root cause methods have been used to provide solutions to numerous vibration-related problems.

Rotating Equipment

-Perform vibration measurements and analysis on elevated platforms, buildings, floors, bridges
-Perform finite element analysis using ANSYS software for a variety of structures
-Develop procedures for structural modifications to reduce excessive vibrations and to increase fatigue life

Acquire multi-channel vibration data using accelerometers, strain gages, non-contact LVDT probes, laser devices, pressure transducers
