About Joseph P. CROSSON
Mr. Crosson areas of specialization include metallurgical and weld related structural failures, mechanical failures, heat exchanger problems, stress analysis, marine casualty investigations, wire rope failures, power plant associated failures, turbine failures, material testing, container crane failures and examination of container crane weldments. Mr. Crosson has extensive experience in evaluation of piping corrosion and failures in HVAC systems, domestic water systems, hot water systems, sprinkler systems and other pipe systems. In relation to the above areas of expertise, Mr. Crosson provides technical consultation to attorneys and, when necessary, testifies as an expert witness in court.
Mr. Crosson responsibilities include root cause failure analysis investigations, supervision of field nondestructive testing and preventive maintenance investigations using visual examination, eddy current, magnetic-particle, ultrasonic and dye-penetrant testing.
Mr. Crosson duties also include supervision and performance of field and laboratory strain gage measurement projects as Manager of Measurements Group. SOCOTEC's Measurements Group has participated in evaluation of most of the major bridges and tunnels in the NYC area as well as evaluation of rail and road vehicles, such as rail cars, buses, sanitation trucks and ambulances for various NYC and MTA agencies.

Representative Projects
- Over the last several years, Mr. Crosson has managed several large insurance loss investigations for the international equipment and plant insurance and re-insurance market. Such projects involved issues at nuclear power plants, fossil fuel power plants, ammonia plants, refinery equipment, manufacturing plants, and marine casualties.
- Throughout the course of Mr. Crosson’s career, he has participated in some of the NY metropolitan area’s most challenging infrastructure issues, such as collapse of the Hartford Civic Center roof, collapse of L’Ambiance
Plaza, Bridgeport, the 1993 World Trade Center bombing recovery, and the recovery efforts following collapse of the World Trade Center in 2001.
