SOCOTEC was engaged by concrete contractor Astaldi to provide Dispute Resolution support services on the Muskrat Falls Power Plant Project located in northern Labrador, Canada.
The Muskrat Falls Power Plant is an 824 MW hydroelectric dam and power plant commissioned by the province to provide power to the region. SOCOTEC’s work consisted of productivity and schedule analysis of Astaldi and other contractors’ performance on the Project, as well as an assessment of other impacts incurred by Astaldi, resulting in its ultimate $300 million claim.
As part of the productivity analysis, SOCOTEC reviewed Astaldi’s manhour records, concrete pour schedules, and job cost reports in order to determine the productivity impact experienced by Astaldi and quantify the amounts due. SOCOTEC published the results of its analysis in multiple reports, both affirming the Astaldi claim and rebutting the opposition’s counterclaims against Astaldi. Finally, SOCOTEC testified for and supported Astaldi in an arbitration setting.
