About Rey Black
Ms. Rey Black is a seasoned architect with over 30 years of experience in large-scale projects across Texas and New York City. Her expertise primarily lies in design, ensuring seamless coordination among all design disciplines. In her role as Regional Director, Rey leads the Business Development effort in Texas for SOCOTEC’s Houston, Dallas and Austin offices.
Rey has extensive experience managing design consultants from the initial RFP stage through project completion and post-occupancy support. Her responsibilities have encompassed contract negotiation, A&E budget management, design guidance, layout development, and comprehensive document control. Furthermore, she fosters strong collaborations with Developer, Construction, Facilities Management, and Sales/Marketing teams to achieve project objectives. During the construction phase, she actively participates in value engineering and de-scope meetings.
Rey was named by Crain’s New York Business -Notable Women in Construction, Design and Architecture 2022.

Professional Experience
Before joining SOCOTEC in 2025, Rey Black held senior leadership roles at leading real estate development firms. She served as Vice President of Design and Construction at Howard Hughes from 2018 to 2024, following a decade in the same role at Related Companies. In June 2025, she joined SOCOTEC as Regional Director, bringing extensive experience overseeing large-scale, complex development projects from design through construction.
