LEED v5 represents a bold step forward in sustainable design. More than a checklist, LEED v5 certification integrates sustainability from a project’s inception—emphasizing climate action, equity, energy performance, health, biodiversity, and resilience.

During this workshop, attendees were able to:

  • Gain insight into the evolution of LEED v5, including key milestones and the restructured development cycle for future versions.

  • Explore the core principles that guide LEED v5 and how they shape project goals and performance metrics.

  • Examine updated and new prerequisites, understanding their implications for project planning and certification strategies.

  • Analyze revised and additional credits, with a focus on their design impact and integration across project phases.

  • Discuss the importance of early-stage collaboration, including feasibility studies and informed material selection to support sustainability outcomes.

The event also included an update from AIA Miami’s Resilience & Adaptation Committee, a time for networking, and food and drinks sponsored by Johns Manville.

Attendees received 1 AIA LU/HSW.
