The Challenge
Construction of a High-Rise Parking Structure with High-Strength Concrete Systems
The project included construction of a seven-story, above-grade parking garage accommodating approximately 1,000 vehicles, with provisions for future commercial tenant space. The structure was supported by driven steel pipe piles and shallow spread foundations, with a reinforced slab-on-grade at Level 1.
Levels 2 through 7 consisted of high-strength post-tensioned concrete decks, which required precise coordination, testing, and monitoring to verify concrete performance, strength gain, and structural integrity throughout construction.
The project scope also included construction of a new private street (Elder Court), connecting 600 South and 700 South, adding further coordination and quality control requirements.
