The Challenge

Expanding Critical Transportation Capacity on Southern California's Growing Freeway Network

The SR-210 corridor serves as a vital transportation artery connecting communities across San Bernardino County. With increasing traffic volumes and regional growth, the existing infrastructure required significant expansion to meet current and future demands.

Construction activities were performed across more than 8.2 miles of freeway and included:

  • Widening of State Route 210 (addition of one mixed-flow lane in each direction)
  • Widening of 18 existing bridges
  • Interchange upgrades
  • New sound walls
  • Construction of new auxiliary, acceleration and deceleration lanes

To minimize disruption to the traveling public, much of the work had to be completed during weekends and nighttime hours.

In addition, all testing activities needed to comply with strict California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) standard.
