The Challenge

Supporting the Construction of a High-Capacity Energy Facility in New York

The CPV Valley Energy Center is a 680 MW natural gas combined-cycle power generation facility located in Wawayanda, New York, on a 122-acre site near Interstate 84. Designed to generate enough electricity to power more than 650,000 homes, the facility helps meet the growing demand for reliable energy throughout the Hudson Valley while incorporating advanced air-cooling technology that significantly reduces water consumption compared to traditional power plants.

Following an extensive eight-year review and approval process, construction began on an ambitious 30-month schedule. The project required the placement of approximately 200,000 cubic yards of fill, 20,000 cubic yards of concrete, and extensive structural steel installation and welding, creating the need for rigorous quality assurance, material verification, and code compliance throughout every stage of construction.

Maintaining quality across multiple construction activities while keeping the project on schedule required experienced inspection and testing professionals capable of supporting a complex infrastructure project from the ground up.
