How to Stay Compliant Without Compromising Design?
Miami Freedom Park's ambitious design featured open air stadia and concourse along with indoor areas where egress routes encompassed indoor and outdoor strategies, a feature that demanded rigorous code compliance analysis under both the Florida Building Code (FBC) and Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC)
This stadium is set to become a recreation destination that all Miamians can enjoy, providing 58 acres of public parks and green space, a tech hub, restaurants and shops, soccer fields for the community, a 25,000 stadium for Inter Miami, and many more features.
The challenge extended beyond standard code interpretation, as the design required coordination between architectural vision, sustainability goals and life safety requirements.

Comprehensive Fire Protection, Life Safety & LEED Excellence
SOCOTEC is working alongside Arquitectonica, providing integrated Fire Protection and Life Safety consulting services throughout the project, applying Performance-Based Design solutions, smoke control, and accessibility consulting.
As part of the project, SOCOTEC has also been commissioned to deliver LEED consulting and Commissioning services, supporting the project team in achieving sustainability objectives and ensuring that building systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated in accordance with the Owner’s Project Requirements. The scope includes coordination with stakeholders and verification of energy and environmental performance measures.
