The Challenge 

Development of a New Public Safety Facility 

The project consisted of replacing Sullivan County’s vintage 1909 jail, known as the oldest operating jail in New York State, with construction of a new correctional facility. The development included a modern jail and a public safety building housing the Sheriff’s administrative offices, patrol, and civil divisions.  

The development also included detention housing pods with associated common areas and recreation spaces. Extensive quality control was required to ensure compliance with construction standards and specifications for a high-security public building.
