About James WEST
Mr. West has over 20 years of consulting experience involving construction cost and scheduling disputes. Mr. West has provided expert consulting services on matters including construction claims, government contracts disputes, surety matters, subcontractor close-out, subcontractor default insurance, and project completion scheduling. Mr. West has prepared and analyzed claims for schedule delays, change order pricing and related schedule impacts, cost overruns, productivity losses, defective work and resulting impacts, adverse weather impacts, and terminations. Mr. West has consulted on a variety of projects including airports, condominiums, convention centers, hospitals, hotels, pipelines, processing and manufacturing facilities, retail development, stadiums, and transportation, and public works. Mr. West has also provided schedule review services which include peer reviews, schedule progressing and creating and inserting fragment activities.
Mr. West has also provided cost review services, including analysis of project estimates, job cost reports, change order requests, and change orders. Mr. West used the results of his analysis to determine the reasonableness of the project estimate, allowable cost, and appropriateness of project billings. Mr. West has assisted in the development of baseline and completion schedules. He has analyzed project schedules and developed recovery schedules on troubled projects and provided support in documenting schedule and cost impacts.
Mr. West has provided inspection services to determine and document the cause and origin of damage to commercial structures resulting from deficient construction and other damage. Mr. West has utilized the results of such investigations to estimate the cost of repairs. Mr. West has provided expert testimony in state court and mediation.

James WEST is a Principal at SOCOTEC and has held various other positions within the organization since 2003. Prior to his current position, Mr. WEST was a Senior Vice President at Veritas Advisory Group which was acquired by SOCOTEC in 2020. Mr. WEST was previously employed at Peterson Barrington – a unit of Navigant Consulting, and Travelers Property & Casualty Insurance Company.
